this book intends first to do full justice to all the values there are in the Old Story of Salvation and to give it the pulsating vitality of life. Then it intends to ask some questions. What importance should be attached to the other divine saviors of other religious traditions? What does it mean when we find parallels in other scriptures? Is the Old Story of Salvation a "true" story? Must parts of it be rejected? What are the lasting values in it? Can it be accepted as the story of the Creator's own plan for all his creation throughout all time and eternity? Is there a danger in this story? Do we need a new story of salvation?
