Book Synopsis:

The purpose of the Herzl Museum is to present the life of Theodor Herzl, as a man, a writer a Zionist and as the organizer of the Jewish people on the way to statehood. This purpose governs the order and presentation of the permanent exhibits, the panels summarizing Herzl's life and also the temporary exhibitions held here from time to time. All permanent exhibits are listed in this catalog. In the foyer leading to the main exhibition hall on the walls flaking Herl's portrait, photographed in 1903 are three of Herzl's sayings which in effect summarize his Zionist philosophy. The first underlines the world's urgent need for a Jewish State: "The Jewish State is essential to the world; therefore it will be created" "If you will, it is no Fairytale" "I truly believe that even after we have obtained our land, Eretz Israel, Zionism will not cease to be an ideal. For Zionism, as I understand it, includes not only the aspiration to secure a legally recognized territory for our downtrodden people, but also an aspiration towards moral and spiritual integrity"
