There is a definite tendency in the Jewish Religions School to shift the center of gravity of our course of study from the past to the present. In the lower grades this phenomenon is reflected in the new emphasis given to Jewish customs and ceremonies and to holiday celebrations. In the intermediate grades this tendency finds expression in the study of the local, the national, and the international Jewish community. In the high school departments of our Jewish Religious Schools and in our youth groups there should be increasing attention given to the study of present day Jewish problems and movements. ? This book attempts to fill this need for our high school and youth groups.
